Benjamin F. Little was the first Republican sheriff of Washington County,

sometime after 1895. A biographical sketch of Little may be found
in History of Washington County (1989).
The papers contain items pertaining to Little's attempt to receive a pension for his Civil War service, other financial records (including tax receipts), and items relating to his duties as sheriff. Also included are materials about his son-in-law, C.E. Swift.
