INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARKANSAS NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY
The Arkansas Native Plant Society was formed in Mena, Polk County, Arkansas, on Sep 20, 1980. It was organized to encourage interest in Arkansas native plants through field trips and programs, and to increase knowledge of native plants by identification, documentation, and analysis. Members have also been active in preserving of endangered plants and other conservation issues. Charter members included Tom Clark, Richard Davis, Clementine Moore, Dr. Jewel Moore, Bill Shepherd, and Dr. Gary Tucker.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The Arkansas Native Plant Society Records were donated to Special Collections in 1988 by the society's secretary, Joseph E. Dean of Heber Springs, Cleburne County, Arkansas. The supplementary papers to this collection were donated to Special Collections by Joseph E. Dean in May 1989 and June 1992.
The records contain correspondence and papers, (including the Society's newsletter, Claytonia ), scrapbooks, and photographs.
