Mission / Services

The Facilities Office oversees the day-to-day operations of the main library and the branch libraries. Its mission is to maintain these facilities in order to provide safe and functional surroundings for library users and staff. Services include coordinating moves of library service areas, staff, and furnishings, serving as liaison with Facilities Management for various projects (electrical, HVAC, building offices, etc), planning for new or remodeled space, and supervising courier and Shipping and Receiving activities and personnel.

Responsibilities

Contact Sheri Gallaher, Facilities Coordinator for

• Courier Services (intra-campus deliveries, picking up gift book collections, moving furnishings among libraries)
• Facilities Management liaison (submitting and tracking of work orders for repairs or modifications, monitoring condition of library facilities)
• Elevator Repairs and Westwood Gardens plant maintenance
• Housekeeping liaison (liaison with custodial supervisor, supervision of individual assigned to clean staff break room)
• Furnishings (furniture selection, arrangement, repairs, and relocation)
• Special Events - Facilities (assistance with planning, arranging for additional furnishings or equipment, supervision of set ups for events)
• Property Inventory
• Key Inventory
• Building Security (establishing and monitoring pass codes, maintaining security reports)
• Signage (employee name signs, building maps, directional signs, miscellaneous signs as needed)
• Shipping & Receiving

• Printing Services Liaison (copier repairs, photocopy requests)
• Canteen Vendors Liaison (refunds for vending machines, reports of machine malfunctions)
• Special Events – Food (food orders for special events, food set up, paper goods related to food service, liaison with Facilities Coordinator for room set ups)
• Faculty Carrel Keys (issue faculty carrel keys, maintain lists of carrel holders)
• Staff Conference Room Calendars and Keys (372B and 486)
• Bulletin Board (flyers for approved display on west foyer bulletin board)
