InfoLinks Version 2.0
It's not your father's online catalog.
This summer, InfoLinks, the Libraries' online catalog, was updated with a new look and several new features:
- Up to fifty results per page.
- Relevancy Ranking: improved relevancy ranking and grouping in keyword searches.
- Additional Sorting Options: sort most title, author, and subject searches by new criteria such as oldest first, newest first, or call number.
- Advanced Keyword Options: use connectors such as near, before, and after.
- My Reading History: a new opt-in service that lets you keep a list of items that have been checked out to you in the past.
- Limit to Items Available for Checkout: check this box to limit your search to items that can be checked out and taken home.
- Persistent Links: handy bookmarks to specific InfoLinks records.
- Saved Searches: re-run your favorite searches at any time, and receive an email when a new item is added to the collection that matches your search terms.

- Find More! a new linking service that lets you expand your search beyond the local catalog - to WorldCat.org, Fayetteville Public Library, journal article databases, reference sources, and beyond.
And, coming later this fall, expect to see additional enhancements, such as spell check, an InfoLinks browser toolbar, printer-friendly pages, and more!
Lexis Nexis Launches New Interface
![]()
Lexis Nexis Academic, the popular database of full-text news, business, and legal resources, has been beta-testing a new interface this summer. While the full release is expected in mid-August, you can test out the new features by clicking the "Beta Site" link now.
Lexis Nexis Academic now offers the ability to Shepardize cases with full coverage of federal and state courts. Other new content areas include Company Dossier, a tool that allows researchers to view detailed financial data and compare companies side-by-side, and detailed Country Profiles drawn from BBC, Interfax, and Global Insight.
Some of the new functional enhancements you'll see include:
- Natural language searching with Easy Search.
- Tick boxes for content types (newspapers, transcripts, legal). Fewer confusing choices about where to start.

- Faceted search results grouped by article type.
- Drop-down menus to change the sort order of your results or to narrow your search.

- Direct export citations to the RefWorks bibliographic citation manager.

Read more about the redesign at the Lexis Nexis Academic info page. Watch our Web page for for Lexis Nexis training sessions this fall or take the new version for a test spin now.
Try Out New Design Databases
Through mid-August, UA users can try out design databases from CSA ProQuest. Taken together, Design and Applied Arts Index (DAAI), Design Abstracts Retrospective (DAR), and Design ProFILES offer coverage of current and past publications on ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood, metalsmithing, graphic design, fashion and clothing, textiles, furniture, interior design, architecture, computer aided design, Web design, computer-generated graphics, animation, product design, industrial design, garden design, and landscape architecture.
Design and Applied Arts Index (DAAI) is the leading source of abstracts and bibliographic records for articles, news items, and reviews published in design and applied arts periodicals from 1973 onwards.
Design Abstracts Retrospective (DAR), the retrospective of Design and Applied Arts Index, provides coverage of more than 100 design and design-related journals most of which have ceased publication, but which are distinctly important to the development of design concepts in the early 20th century.
Design ProFILES (DP), is the most comprehensive collection of profiles in design and design-related fields. It provides information about more than 8,000 designers and design-related organizations that were influential in the 20th century world of design.
