The Province of Aceh, Indonesia was facing prolonged armed conflict during 1974-2005. The 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake triggered the signing of a peace accord between the Free Aceh Movement and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to end the conflict. The peace process does require a lot of work and effort that every civilian has to be a part of, including building a better Aceh and Nias. The country is still in a condition full of hatred and prejudice; racism toward the Javanese people still exists.
