Office of Institutional Diversity and Education
The Office of Institutional Diversity and Education collaborates with other campus units, particularly Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, to enhance and advance campus diversity initiatives. Office of Affirmative Action
The Office of Affirmative Action guides, directs, assists and monitors the administration and the faculty to ensure fair and equal treatment of all individuals in the processes which affect education and employment by enforcing all federal/state laws and regulations as well as university policies and procedures related to civil rights, affirmative action, and non-discrimination. Multicultural Center
The Multicultural Center exists to enhance the University of Arkansas academic experience by preparing students for life in a diverse society. Seeking to provide an environment that promotes cross-cultural interaction among all students, the Center staff collaborates with the University community to provide educational, cultural, and social programs. Academic and extracurricular resources are available to assist in the development and advancement of an inclusive learning community.
The Center offers a large gallery area for programming, art displays and cultural exhibits, meeting space, a small resource library that includes books, videos, and board games, as well as an informal lounge where students can study or relax between classes. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these resources, as well as get involved with the various student organizations offered at the University of Arkansas. Located on the 4th floor of the Arkansas Union (ARKU 404), the Multicultural Center may be contacted at 479-575-2064.
Human Resources Diversity Website
This website serves the University community by providing multicultural resources. It provides information on the U of A’s Diversity Award Program and Diversity Certificate Program as well as a resource library with diversity holdings (video, pamphlets, books, etc.)
Leadership Library
The Leadership Library provides books, video and audiocassette tapes, and games. There is a wide array of categories that are represented in the library from African American studies, children's issues, college issues, community concerns, cultural enhancement, gay and lesbian issues, Hispanic studies, leadership, motivation, Native American studies, professional development, race relations, religion, social issues, team building, and wellness. These resources are great for personal growth, and they provide ideas for presentations, workshops, and cultural awareness. The Division of Student Affairs
The Division of Student Affairs' mission is to help students achieve their goals through the provision of high quality support services and comprehensive programs that stimulate, enhance, and extend student learning; empowering University of Arkansas graduates to become active, engaged citizen leaders in Arkansas and throughout the world.
Safe Zone Program
Safe Zone Allies are members of the University of Arkansas who believe that all students and people in the campus community should be treated equally and fairly regardless of sexual orientation. Allies are supportive and affirming of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and employees, and their identities. Allies listen without judgment, provide safe space for visitors to share their concerns, and refer visitors appropriately to resources for assistance.
Office of International Students & Scholars
The mission of the Office is to serve foreign students, scholars, and their family members at the university, and to enhance the global awareness of the University of Arkansas community. The Office also provides a variety of programs designed to help students, scholars, and their families learn about U.S. life and culture while enriching the community's understanding and appreciation of the many countries and cultures which our students and scholars
