Arkansas IDEAS (Internet Delivered Education for Arkansas Schools)
Host: Arkansas Educational Television Network & Arkansas Department of Education
A partnership between AETN and ADE provides videos, workshops for teachers, telecourses, classroom instruction and summer camps for kids to learn about television production. Offers professional development opportunities and online courses which accrue ADE credit. Has many teaching resources for technology-enhanced lesson plans, including PBS lesson plans and an online library of resources. Teachers with an Arkansas license may register for a password.

Butler Center For Arkansas Studies
Host: Central Arkansas Library System
Created at CALS in 1997, the Butler Center "is dedicated to exploring, preserving, and interpreting the history of Arkansas." Education resources include lesson plans searchable by grade level, ADE curriculum frameworks, and resource content; The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture (free online), and Books for Arkansas Students Education (BASE, a free book program for public high schools in the state). Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMASE)
Host: University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
"One of twelve mathematics and science centers on university and college campuses around the state, CMASE provides quality resources and materials to the home, private and public education community." This is also the Arkansas NASA Educator Resource Center, the only one in the state. Has a calendar of events for children and adults around Arkansas. Lesson plans and links for teachers; events, contests, games for children. Scientific Living offers 20 short videos (< 2 minutes each) with discussion guides on space and space exploration, short science stories useful as multimedia supplements in teaching.

Economics Arkansas

“The mission of Economics Arkansas is to promote economic literacy and the economic-way of thinking to students in Arkansas by empowering educators to teach the fourth “r,” real life economics.” Teacher resources includes lessons correlated to the frameworks, videos, projects to participate in, in-service training for teachers, and financial grants for teachers. Hosts student contests such as the Stock Market Game and a poster contest. Arkansas has six university-based centers. Includes information on the Bessie B. Moore awards program for teachers and the Polly M. Jackson teacher certification program.

Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture

This project of the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies at the Little Rock Public Library "strives to offer a definitive, comprehensive, and accurate record of the twenty-fifth state." Researchers can browse by subject categories, time periods, gender, ethnicity, type of content, or use a search feature to retrieve full articles with bibliographies, media, and photos. Links for lesson plans are included for many articles. Information for contributors is also available on this actively growing Web site.

This site provides educators with extensive resources to support using popular music in the classroom. It highlights the connection between literature and music. "Recognizing music's power to influence thought, style, and culture is the first step toward incorporating pop tunes into classroom lessons in a way that inspires students to learn in a language and style unique to them." The site features essays, lesson plans, research, links to lyrics and to additional classroom tools, as well as a large database of song to literature connections.

Pryor Center for Arkansas Oral and Visual History
Host: Special Collections, University of Arkansas Libraries, Fayetteville
The Center's mission is "to document the history of Arkansas through the collection of spoken memories and visual records, preserve the collection in perpetuity, and connect Arkansans and the world to the collection through the Internet, TV broadcasts, educational programs, and other means." The site offers transcriptions of over 200 oral interviews and will be adding audio and video.
