Series 1. Core Family Materials. Boxes 1-20.
 

This series contains materials pertaining to Dorothy and Norman Core and their closest relatives, persons bearing the surnames Core, Watts, Jones, or Sweigard.  It also contains materials relating to the in-laws of Dorothy Core's siblings and their children, as well as materials relating to kin through the marriage of Norman Core's mother Reba to Seth Hastings, Sr.  This series is divided into two subseries, one containing documents on particular individuals and families, the other the correspondence of members of the extended Core family.  Subseries 1 includes the 1893 map of Prairie County, on which is drawn the location of plots of land owned by Ray Watts.

 Subseries 1. Personal Materials.

The materials in this subseries relate to both individuals and family lines with the surnames Core,   Watts, Jones, and Sweigard.  Documents pertaining to individuals include military, medical and   financial records, Christmas newsletters, death certificates, newspaper clippings, and wills.  This   subseries also includes correspondence illuminating the history of the four family lines. Materials   pertaining to more distant relatives of Dorothy and Norman Core, notably persons with the surnames Barnes, McCuen, Nation, Singleton, etc., may be found in Series 2, Subseries 5, containing genealogical files.

Subseries 2.  Correspondence

This subseries includes correspondence among Core family members and their friends. Early Core and Watts families correspondence has been assigned to files separate from other contemporary materials.  Also maintained in separate files is correspondence between Dorothy Core and Germans she met through her Elderhostel travels.  This subseries includes the correspondence of some of the more distant relations of the Core family.
