Map Viewers
Map viewers offer non-expert users the ability to interactively display and view geospatial data that is accessed across the Web. Geospatial data represents information that identifies the geographic location and characteristics of natural or constructed features and boundaries on the earth. This information may be derived from remote sensing, mapping, surveying, and other technologies.
A number of map viewers are available on the Web, readily presenting geospatial data, for example:
GeoStor Map Viewer...
...is a mapping application that allows you to view one or more internet geospatial data services. The geospatial data of Arkansas is directly provided from GeoStor, and the layers of data can be viewed individually or together. With the GeoStor Map Viewer, you can create maps of selected geospatial data, and can print or save your customized maps. For more information, see GeoStor Map Viewer Help.
Picture Arkansas...
...is one of the applications built on GeoStor, by the Arkansas Geographic Information Office. It features the 2006 aerial photography (digital orthos) and also provides access to other geospatial layers about Arkansas and powerful GIS tools. One meter color infrared and natural color photography can be viewed for the entire state. Alternate versions of the photography are available through Google Maps. For more information, see the Picture Arkansas Help.
Fayetteville, Arkansas Interactive Maps...
...are collections of geospatial layers of information, as part of the city’s GIS Web site. The maps include coverage of land use, flood zones, and imagery dating back to 1926, among other geospatial data. One option with the interactive map is the ability to zoom into a specific area of the city for a closer look. For more information, see Fayetteville GIS Web site.
