“The Northwest Arkansas Travel Demand Model – Results and Scenarios”
1:15 - Bruce Gorham – CAST (JBHT Room 228)
“Developing a Process for Rapid Collection and Processing of Aerial Imagery with the TerraHawk Imaging System: Lessons from Arkansas’s 2008 Flood Event.” Partnering with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) CAST staff flew the TerraHawk to document and measure extent of the flooding within eight AGFC Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) located in the Mississippi River Valley.

“Wildfire Hazard Assessment” – Department of Emergency Management and the GIS Department have worked together to use GIS tools for wildland fire risk assessment by parcel and neighborhood, to assist in creating the Benton County Wildfire Mitigation Plan.
1:45 – Malcolm Williamson - CAST (JBHT Room 228)
“LINGO” – Description and development of Geospatial Decision Support System (GDSS) funded through the Department of Energy’s Low-Impact Natural Gas and Oil (LINGO) program. The system is web-based and will provide access to current geospatial data layers from a variety of sources to benefit AOGC, ADEQ, and ANRC who will have easy access for complex geospatial analysis to perform permitting decisions. The general public has access to view some general layers and information.

2:15 – Gary Underwood and Michelle Chavez, Census 2010 Partnership Specialists: "It's In Our Hands" - Individuals will learn how census data provides an enormous amount of geographic information for GIS users, policy makers, state and federal agencies, and other businesses.
3:00 – David Shaver, Mid Continent Geographic Science Center, Rolla, MO (JBHT Room 264)
“Object Oriented Feature Extraction” – Participants will learn to use local satellite imagery to extract features and also have to the opportunity to interact with how it works.
4:00 – Robin Gregory - CAST (JBHT Room 264)
“Making use of the FREE Landsat Data Archive” Provided by USGS, this information will show participants how to take advantage of this unparalleled store of earth observation data from the entire Landsat satellite data archive including how to search and download images they need.
Demonstrations
1:30 – Geocache Treasure Hunt – K-12 students
Team/s of 1 - 3 students will be given a list of waypoints to insert into their own GPS units or they may also use a loaned CAST GPS unit for a dash to the treasure finish. Some preliminary instruction will be provided to the users of CAST's GPS units (Trimble Junos with TerraSync software) for the geocache race. The team of students that finishes first will receive GIS DAY gear. All participants will receive a GIS Day certification and items. 2:00 – Mobile GPS Search and Rescue Dog
David Shaver, Mid Continent Geographic Science Center in Rolla, MO, a division of the US Geological Survey, and Ronnie, a mine detection dog who has two tours of duty in Afghanistan, will demonstrate how dogs using GPS can enhance search and rescue missions. A rugged PC will be used to track the dog on screen and download to see his work.
4:00 – Land Surveying with Civil Engineering Dr. Rod Williams
Dr. Williams and other Civil Engineering staff and students will be demonstrating the use of survey equipment and 2-3 point triangulation of the landscape near JB Hunt building.
